Glamping site case study
In the Summer of 2021, we successfully tested a zero-carbon electricity supply to run a 12-tent glamping site.
Each tent had:
- an en-suite bathroom
- illuminated mirror
- electric powered compressed air toilet
- internal lights
- permanent external light
- normal 3-pin residential sockets for charging phones / laptops, heating baby milk etc
Water system comprising:
- three 3𝝓 water pumps to pressure the whole site
- control system
We also ran a kettle and fridge in the back of the house for staff refreshments
Over the course of 12 weeks our system
- We saved an estimated 7140L of diesel
- We prevented the release of 18.8T of CO2
The system was inaudible at the perimeter of the back-of-house which was approximately 3m – 4m from the power supply. The noise from the unit is limited to the 4″ cooling fans. In fact, it was so quiet, cars on the local main road could be heard approximately 2 miles away over farmland and trees. This would not have been audible if a Diesel generator had been running.
Our clients also enjoyed the off grid power by hosting their own open air cinema.
